PRODUCTS 58 www.metals.rala.com.au M Series Atomic Absorption Spectrometer The M Series Atomic Absorption Spectrometer has set a new standard of performance in flame and furnace analyses. Using a single atomiser instrument requires at least two critical alignment procedures in order to change over from flame to furnace atomisers. This process is difficult, time consuming and involves the risk of data quality deterioration. Thermo's M Series AAS enables laboratories, especially those performing high throughput experiments, to carry out both flame and graphite furnace AAS analyses. A variety of combinations of atomisers is also possible providing further flexibility and enabling optimum configuration. The M Series AAS achieves top quality data in a short timeframe. The unique optomechanical arrangement of the instrument allows the atomizers to switch automatically, simply by the flip of a mirror, thereby enabling fast and unattended operation. It can be easily controlled from a single data station using the innovation SOLAAR software package. This results in reduced equipment efficiency while increasing energy consumption, increasing costs and even increasing plant downtime. When Dynamic Descaler was tested on the removal of mussels in a marine application it took only 2 hours at 20 degrees C. The closest competitor took a minimum of 8 hours. By heating the material to 60 degrees C. it took only 30 minutes with Dynamic Descaler compared to 2-1/4" hours by the competitor and 2.25 hours with hydrochloric acid. Corrosion mass loss after 24 hours at 20 degrees C. showed Dynamic Descaler to be the lowest on most materials tested! Removing scale can be a major problem. Mechanical removal requires extensive downtime while the item of equipment is disassembled, then re-assembled. Corrosive acid cleaners, such as concentrated hydrochloric acid, raise occupational health and safety concerns and disposal problems as well as a significant risk of long-term detrimental impact on plant life from metal loss.
