Metal Casting Technologies : September 2006
109 PRODUCTS High Temperature Bulk Power Cooling System Bulkflow Technologies Ltd's new high temperature bulk power cooling system has an innovative tube exchanger that minimises thermal stresses and accommodates thermal expansion. The new high temperature model cools bulk solids with temperatures up to 1832°F (1000°C). For these very high temperatures Bulkflow developed a system using horizontal water-cooled tubes as the heat exchange surface. Bulk powder flows via gravity over the cooling tubes while indirectly cooled. The geometry of the tube is perfectly uniform with even temperatures throughout the tube wall to avoid hot spots and high local stresses. The tubes are arranged in a serpentine design connected to manifolds at the top and bottom of each section. The tubes penetrate the front and back wall of the exchanger, with all welded connections outside of the product flow. The tubes are not welded to the front and back wall to allow full movement. There is a product seal where the tube penetrates the front and back wall prevents product leakage. The front and back wall is typically refractory lined on the inside (produce side) to keep the temperature of the walls low, minimising thermal expansion. The technology combines zero emissions, lower energy consumption and lower capital costs with exceptional results. The system is safe and compact and easily integrates on line to existing equipment. High standards demanded by end-users mean that the quality and precision of metal sorting have to be second to none. The accurate analysis of NI, Co, Cu, Mo, Sn, Ti allows maximum value for scrap, even with the tight tolerances demanded by the industry. Monitor assay to confirm goods meet specifications. Inspect pipes, welds etc. for corrosion resistance, and pressure equipment for alloy composition. Avoid material mix-ups. Wires of less than 1mm in diameter, or small objects of the same size, can be identified in seconds. Avoid penalties by the accurate detection of tramp elements. Low detection limits for Cu, Bi, Mo, Zn, Cd and Pb. Grade ID in 2-5 seconds and full assay in 5-10 seconds. As standard, the X-MET3000TX has an integrated alloy library containing: Nickel Alloys, Stainless Steels, Cobalt Alloys, Low Alloy Steel, Tool Steels, Copper Alloys, Titanium Alloys, Aluminium Alloys (heavy alloying elements). Customise by adding new alloys quickly and easily. T: +61295240558 F: +61295240560 E: email@example.com W: www.ndt.com.au WHO'S WHO OF METALS -- ANNUAL 2006/7
