Metal Casting Technologies : December 2006
sand, and the prospect of paying for the privilege is becoming a reality. Of course, the real issue is how to address the problem, not worrying about who else has the problem. A foundry in South Australia has come up with ingenious methods of disposing of their foundry wastes. So ingenious, in fact, that they are making some modest profit out of waste disposal. This is the type of ingenuity which is needed by foundries throughout the Asia Pacific region. So become proactive rather than reactive. Do this before you find your country's environmental authority insisting that you have to take steps to comply with green standards or be fined. Go Green! As usual this issue of MCT is packed full of information, news and technical features. The magazine is increasingly penetrating into all the Asian countries. We have even commenced translations into the Chinese language. For this reason, I would very much like to hear more from our readers in Asia. . The Australian Foundry Industry held its convention in Rotorua, New Zealand in October and it was deemed successful. I have already flagged that it would be worth making suggestions for future conferences. Therefore, I again urge you to use this publication as a forum to explore how future conventions can provide more added value for the attendees. Good reading to all! I wish everyone a Happy Holiday season and a prosperous New Year.
