Thirty-five companies took part in the exposition, with product launches and infomercials held each day. Platinum sponsor Mahima Induction Technologies conducted their Australian Product Launch, with a happy hour held in its exhibition space. The Social programme commenced on the eve of the conference and provided opportunity for golf lovers to play on the superb Moonah Links course. The President's Welcome took form as a cocktail party in the Long Room, moving into the exposition areas where attendees were reacquainted and could view technologies on display at their leisure. The first day of the conference was capped by dinner at Bobby McGee's, with an evening of dance and karaoke. The well attended Banquet Dinner was held in the Member's Dining Room where Max Walker kept those present enthralled with tales from his illustrious career. The AFI took this opportunity to recognise the 2009 Industry Legends from each state in Australia. Also recognised during the evening were participants of the Apprentice Skills Achievement Award, each of whom received a certificate and gift of a tool box from Fein and book from Foseco. The Banquet Dinner was the close of the 2009 AFI conference programme, the new format of which (multiple streams and workshops) was well received by delegates and Industry players alike.
