Metal Casting Technologies : March 2007
A SPECIAL APPEAL -- DIARY DATES I would like to appeal to all of our readers to keep the information gates open. We are very interested to know what the latest developments are in your area, be it in the form of a report on technical meetings that have taken place in your local industry group, news of major events or developments on a national and international basis. You are readers and informers. As an example, I know for certain that many of our Asian readers in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, China and India enjoy and appreciate being kept informed on what is happening with the Australian Foundry Institute. The feedback we get indicates the special appreciation for the AFI National Convention held each year in Australia because of the knowledge contained in the technical contributions. MCT is available to be used as a primary service vehicle by all foundry bodies in the region to create an extremely effective forum for knowledge share. It is the information foundry hub. Of course, there is a need to rely on there being a will to share the information. But I am not suggesting you write about your intellectual property. I am suggesting that sharing relevant market information and comment increases exponentially your personal and business knowledge bank. I therefore invite and urge you to become an important player in the creation and dissemination of foundry knowledge. WIN WIN FOR THE ASIA PACIFIC FOUNDRY INDUSTRY By increasing contributions everyone wins. It enhances and grows foundry market knowledge and therefore lubricates trading in Asia Pacific. I appeal to you to please decide now to become a regular contributor. Diarise now the deadline dates for the next three editions of MCT. May 3, August 8 (the big annual) and October 25. Making an editorial contribution, regardless of its size, doesn't cost money but it does take a commitment and a will to make it happen but it is also an investment for you personally, your Institution and or your company. MCT is a broadcast engine for you. How will anyone know what you think, what you do, what you are about if you don't tell them? So let's open up the floodgates for the technical information highways. Let's hear from you regularly. Written English skills are not important. We have staff to write and polish up what you would like to have known about you or your company. One final thought for you. I provide technical advice to the Editorial board regarding articles that are published. I also write a lead editorial for every issue. In my editorial, I may try to set the tone for the magazine or I may express my opinions on current issues facing the industry. The opinions are mine. And I very much welcome your feedback as to whether you agree or disagree. That's the forum I am seeking to create.
