Metal Casting Technologies : September 2005
CRITERION 2: Capability to meet delivery schedules on time. (Note: Do the same for this criterion and fill in the descriptions of each factor, as was done in Criterion 1.) Sub-criterion 1: Ability to plan and schedule production. (Production Planning and Control) Sub-criterion 2: Ability to secure needed materials and supplies on time. (Procurement) Sub-criterion 3: Ability to produce castings on time. (Production Supervision) CRITERION 3: Capability to control production costs. (Note: Do the same as was done for Criteria 1 & 2.) Sub-criterion 1: Ability to procure materials and supplies at most reasonable prices. (Procurement) Sub-criterion 2: Ability to cut waste in processing inputs -- materials, supplies, energy, manpower. (Production Supervision) Sub-criterion 3: Ability to gather relevant cost data. (Cost Accounting) Sub-criterion 4: Ability to present cost data in meaningful format. (Cost Accounting) Sub-criterion 5: Ability to analyze cost data. (Management Accounting) Sub-criterion 6: Ability to take corrective action when necessary. (Management) Following is a sample application of ratings for performance: (Note: For foundry performance, weights of 40-60 for K-E are given to give more importance to E; but 60-40 for K-E could be given, if more importance to foundry potential is desired.) CRITERION 1: Capability to produce world-class castings. Sub-criterion 1: Ability to meet metal chemical specifications. Foundry A: Knowledge = 49 x 40% = 19.6 Experience = 99 x 60% = 59.4 79 High Foundry B: Knowledge = 99 x 40% = 39.6 Experience = 49 x 60% = 29.4 69 Medium Sub-criterion 2: Ability to meet casting dimensions. Foundry A: Knowledge = 49 x 40% = 19.6 Experience = 74 x 60% = 44.4 64 Medium Foundry B: Knowledge = 99 x 40% = 39.6 Experience = 74 x 60% = 44.4 84 High Sub-criterion 3: Ability to produce acceptable casting surface finish. Foundry A: Knowledge = 74 x 40% = 29.6 Experience = 99 x 60% = 59.4 89 High Foundry B: Knowledge = 99 x 40% = 39.6 Experience = 74 x 60% = 44.4 84 High TECHNICAL FEATURE Sub-criterion 4: Ability to produce sound castings. Foundry A: Knowledge = 49 x 40% = 19.6 Experience = 49 x 60% = 29.4 49 Low Foundry B: Knowledge = 99 x 40% = 39.6 Experience = 74 x 60% = 44.4 84 High Overall rating for Criterion 1: (Overall scale: Low = 25-49; Med = 50-74; High = 75-99) Foundry A: Sub-criterion 1 = 79 Sub-criterion 2 = 64 Sub-criterion 3 = 89 Sub-criterion 4 = 49 70.25 ave. (M) Foundry B: Sub-criterion 1 = 69 Sub-criterion 2 = 84 Sub-criterion 3 = 84 Sub-criterion 4 = 84 80.25 ave. (H) Note that the overall rating shows the relative position of each foundry as far as Criterion 1 is concerned. Their ratings on the sub-criteria indicate where improvements could be made to upgrade their positions in Criterion 1. * Free tickets and Visitor brochure to Exhibition email@example.com * Hotels firstname.lastname@example.org * British Flame Conference for combustion engineers www.britishflame.org.uk * Cast Metal & Diecasting Times Conference details email@example.com * Venue:www.horticultural-halls.co.uk * Sponsors:Foundry Equipment & Supplies Association (FESA) www.fesa.org.uk * Organisers: Modern Media Communications Ltd Gresham House, 54 High Street, Shoreham by Sea BN43 5DB UK Tel: +44 (0) 1273 453033 Fax: +44 (0)1273 453085 www.mmcpublications.co.uk * Other web sites to help you:- Airports: * www.baa.co.uk * Weather: www.met-office.gov.uk London: * www.londontown.com * Street Map: www.streetmap.co.uk Transport: * www.tfl.gov.uk * BBC: www.bbc.co.uk ABB*Voxjet*3M*Durrans*Rosler*ESI*Fospat*GeneralKinematics*Tessal*Wheelbrator*AirProducts IMF*Eurotherm*Gibson*Precimeter*Bohler*Clansman*Dupont*BMM*Tooltemp*Morganite*Arun*Buhler *Vulcan*Minelco*LHMarshall*Kruger*FTL*Space*MarinaTextiles* *Inductotherm*Ashland*DISA*Omega*GEMCO*OttoJunker*Thermo*Space* AN EXHIBITION OF 80 COMPANIES & TWO CONFERENCES IN THE CITY OF LONDON FOR THE FERROUS, NON FERROUS & DIECASTING INDUSTRIES Venue: RHS Halls, Vincent Square, Victoria, London SW1 2PE England 66 www.metals.rala.com.au
