The XL design incorporates several new features such as the new zero clearance, stainless steel, Linear Guiding System that precisely maintains positive alignment of the cope and drag throughout operations at the squeeze station. Detent Cylinders integrated onto a rigid platen, lock the drag flask in alignment with the platen eliminating the possibility of mould shift. A new autolock hydraulic pattern clamping system elimates the need to bolt down a pattern after pattern change and provides a true "drop in Pattern change" that takes only seconds to complete. The system includes, safety enclosure with the robot and Barkhausen Noise sensor, Rollscan 200, electric cabinet with the PLC panel for programming, rack for the Rollscan 200, system computer and printer and ViewScan software. Gears are loaded and unloaded manually onto and from the GearScan 600 system. The system automatically scans the gear teeth surfaces for defects. Measuring different types of gears is possible by different measuring programs and testing new gear types can easily be taught to the system. Both sides of a gear tooth are measured with the system. The main functions of the GearScan 600 are handled by the controls on the electric cabinet on which also the control panel of the PLC program is placed.
