Carbon content is almost unaffected by ESR irrespective of slag composition. Ingot remelted under slag B gave high desulphurization while ingot remelted under slag A gave less desulphurization because of the high CaO content of slag B. Sulphur % in ESR ingot (slag B) is less compared to that produced by slag A. The ingot produced by slag B will have better mechanical properties as the sulphur % is less. Outer surface finish of ESR ingot under slag A is better compared to that of ingot prepared under slag B. ESR ingot (slag B) had some constrictions at the bottom. Both are ingots are cut (30 mm from starting block) on high speed carborundum wheel. Ingot (slag B) showed presence of some blowholes at the bottom whereas ingot (slag A) didn't have any blow holes. The future work is to compare the mechanical properties of both the ingots. ● Material C Mn Cr Si S Mo V Electrode 0.27 0.9 1.45 0.23 0.03 0.93 0.26 ESR under slag A 0.26 0.88 1.43 0.20 0.02 0.93 0.26 ESR under slag B 0.26 0.86 1.42 0.19 0.012 0.93 0.26 Table 2.
