The thickness of the chill is another variable that also influences the feeding distance to some extent. The thickness of chills in this work was taken as 15 mm which is less that T, i.e. 25 mm. Therefore a chill up to 25 mm thickness can enhance the feeding distance further. The results of the simulation of the present work show that the feeding distance of a riser can be increased not only by the use of end chill, by using top and bottom chills too. Further work can be carried out to study the effect of the dimensions of the top and bottom chills on the feeding distance of a riser. n Figure 7a.
